Scammer on Craigslist. I listed an item for sale and he inquired on the item and wanted to get my name and address to make payment or something. Then he would send someone to pick up my item.
You really did not give us much information ... but ... if the call involved sending you a check so you could ship the item, and NOT meeting you in person, this might be the scam:
There are at least two variations to this scam:
1. The check is phony, but the bank does not notify you until after you shipped the item.
2. The check is written for more than the asking amount. You are instructed to send a MoneyGram for the difference. In this variation, the scammer does not care about the item. All they want is to get the MoneyGram before you learn the check bounced.
So, instead of cashing the check, file a Mail Fraud Complaint!

Short warning from the Craigslist site:
DEAL LOCALLY WITH FOLKS YOU CAN MEET IN PERSON!
follow this one rule and avoid 99% of scam attempts.
Good advice Slim, something felt strange right from the start. No question on the price, no question about the item, just give me your address and I'll send the money. He called from 60 miles away! That far for a relatively small Craigslist purchase? This is smelling really bad. Perhaps I should do a reverse look up on the phone number maybe I'll get the address and write him a letter; nice to meet you, your an [***]. I'm worried about identity theft more than some one time scam attempt. Now I am SUPER on guard, and that's too bad because I know most people are honest. Again, good advice Slim, stay local, face to face, opportunity to judge integrity. Double checking my Life Lock membership tonight and taking a seriously new perspective on all calls. I just feel burned. Thank you for the information. Dan
