I am on the DO NOT CALL LIST with the Federal Government..but this caller continues to give me sales calls on Mortage Rates..If they do not stop calling I will sue..so tired of their nuciance calls!!!! All Hours of the day and night..
It is a recorded call and it says to be taken off the list press 3 but I think that just makes them call all the more often..
This is the latest in a legion of phone numbers I have in my phone log from alleged mortgage modification companies. I did fall behind on my mortgage, and went through an 8-month process with my mortgage servicer trying to get a modification. I finally got approved, and have just mailed my third payment, which will make my modification permanent once the check clears. It appears that during the process, my mortgage provider sold my phone number to every crook under the sun.
I hate to rain on everyone's parade, but the Do Not Call list is a complete farce. You can complain to the FTC all you want, but they never follow up on any complaint and no company has ever been disciplined. Like every other function of the federal government, it is a complete waste of time.
I'm going to go all out to get ahead of the spammers. Once the check clears and my modification becomes permanent, I'm changing my phone number. Also, it looks like I'm going to be moving to a different cube in the cube farm at work, and I'm going to ask the Telecom department for a new office number when I move. Then I'm not telling any business on Earth what my new phone numbers are - not even the legitimate companies I do business with. Only my blood relatives will be able to reach me by phone.
I keep getting calls from this number on my cell. The last time, I began to hear a recorded message about mortgages, and I hung up. I am on the "do not call list," but that doesn't seem to help. I have never done business with these people, and I don't even have a mortgage. As well as I can tell, this number is owned by "American Mortgage Express" in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. They have a toll-free number I found on the Internet: 1-888-850-7076. I called once, spoke to a guy, and asked him if 856-778-0500 is a number they were using. He wouldn't tell me. I tried to ask him some other questions, and even though I was very polite, he hung up on me. So I called again, got another person, and again tried to determine if 856-778-0500 is their number. He said he didn't know, but since he seemed patient and courteous, I gave him my cell number and asked him to have it removed. I'll see if this works. My suggestion to others is that you call 1-888-850-7076 to complain about receiving calls from 856-778-0500.
