by the way they spoof the phone number over voip, which is in the US. The recording is software that makes a voice from what they type. I was told they are in Costa Mesa, Ca. Atleast record call and file police report, turn over to Discover and your Attorney General Office. They call me again and I record, they get my credit card info and I pay $50. I then file police report. Sue and post everyrhing all over the internet. I would never give my social security number.....,
I don't know anyone in the area codes I block. Highly doubtful I'll would receive such calls from such areas that would be legitimate. In the event they were legit, you could just setup your phone to move such calls directly to voice mail, if it was legit and important enough they can leave voice mail.
Vast majority of people rarely use voice calls anyway, texting/email are the primary forms of communication. Hell, even my dentist uses automated texting to update checkups.
Freaking out.. yeah.. pissed off over the number of calls I get when I don't want them. Plus these a**wipes don't adhere to any rules. This is the out come, completely blocking all calls.. If it comes down to it I'll block everything and have only a white list.
This number calls at least weekly to lower my credit card rates. I talk to the customer service person on the other end and tell them I don't have credit cards, please remove me from the call list, and they hang up on me.
Given that I personally know 0 people in KY I think the risk is pretty low that i"ll miss out on a call. I'll also bet that the vast majority of people here reading this know 0 people in KY.
These fraudsters are spoofing the numbers they use. They find an unused number and fake their calls so it appears its comes from that number. There are companies out there that allow them to do this. The government is well aware of the problem with spoofing and so are the telecom companies, yet there is no incentive to clean it up partly because telecom companies benefit from it.
What will happen is that people are going to start blocking all calls and white list numbers they want to receive calls from. That pretty much stops any telemarketing dead in its tracks. All the area codes above are from numbers that I received calls from.. often by the hundreds.. I've received thousands, yes that is no exaggeration, of calls.
If I have to block all but the frew area codes I use then I will, if I have to start blocking those I will and create a white list. One way or another this is going to stop.
