Some woman called telling me that she has a Summons that must be served to me. When I had inquired why, she stated that it was for an account that was being brought to court, but I know for sure that I had completed that account and closed it, as I was done with that account (even received a Letter of Congratulations from the lender for paying off the account). The woman knew my name, address, phone number, SS#, and even called my son on his cell phone, to which I never have provided to any sort of lending company ever; I don't know how she got his phone number and called him. She gave me a number to call and a DA case number to reference, saying that if I don't make arrangements to receive these "documents", they'll 'serve' me at work. This is surely not a real caller; when do you ever get called to get served papers when being sued? And after searching around the internet, it seems to be a Debt Collection Scam.
Caller from private # called claimed he was Larry Fisher and he was calling about a debt onan old Kays account. Even knew what was purchased but debt was taken care of. He knew my dob ss# and addresses. How he got my cell phone number is beyond me bc it belongs to my work and not listed under my name. He said he had a summons to deliver to me and would need my address and for me to be there when it was delivered. Asked me how I was planning on paying the debt. Gave me the contact information of a company called Liberties Capital and phone 8583679107. Like I said ..called from private blocked number.
This woman called said she had court documents ready to be delivered to my home between 2 and 230p and I had to sign for them, when I asked her for more info, she claimed docs "were sealed", I asked her what would happen if I wasn't home, she said I would need to reschedule because I had to sign for them. She knew my address, name and cell. I kept pressing for info, she supplied a telephone number and doc #, I called the number she gave me and a man answered, very unprofessional, when I asked where I was calling he gave me what sounded like a lawyers office. He then told me I had defaulted on a visa and owed $1700, false because I know for a fact, I do not owe or defaulted on any credit card, he quickly asked me to verify the last 4 of my social, which did not match mine and just that easy, he said he was going to "remove me from their roster".
