Calls from various numbers - all from Alexandria, KY, I've blocked maybe 10 so far from these idiots. Some robot starts talking about social security and hangs up on you. Every single time. ANNOYING. Total scam. Just block it.

This is a number handed out by Time Warner and is most likely a VoIP number (Voice over Internet Protocol), like you might get from Google Voice or Hangouts. Though they have their usefulness this is one of their downfalls...they are apparently unregulated.You can get loads of them with just basic internet service and for free. I believe this is why so many scammers use them and why they call from multiple numbers. They're difficult if not impossible to trace and probably resolve to an IP address. Never answer them. Even if they are legitimate you give away info by answering such as your number is a working number, what time of day you're more likely to answer, etc. Just block if you can. There are scads of free apps for cell phones to block unwanted calls and some can block a range of numers from ???? to ????, maybe even entire exchanges (like 859-474) and if you have a VoIP number the ability to block is usually built in.
