this number comes at least three times a day. We no longer answer the phone before five rings. If it is someone legit, they will leave a message. All others usually hang up after three or four rings.
Have had 7 scam calls so far today. This one has ID: James V. Houp and has called three times starting at 8:49am. Stops after 3rd ring. Search shows number is in Wilmer KY; He's associated with "starving farmers". Don't know if name/number is spoofed.
Called and was a very hard to understand foreigner. Said there's a problem with my computer "motherboard" I told her I wasn't near my computer and she said she would call back later. Never called back so far???
Woman with a very thick foreign accent called to claim that she was from the Microsoft technical department. The caller ID identified as James V Houp from phone number 859-858-3440. I asked for the phone number so I could call back to confirm. She gave me the phone number of 1-800-525-2047, which is definitely not Microsoft. I asked for her name and she said, "Mary Williams". Unless Mary was from somewhere in India, or elsewhere in the Asia, I doubt that it was Mary. I'm sure there are many people who get scammed into giving the information that they try to give them over the phone while sitting in front of their computers. DO NOT give any information about your computer over the phone NO MATTER how convincing they may sound. If you do, you will be exposing your computer and all of your data (financial, etc) for them to access remotely.
