Steven (heavy accented Indian national) of VTech Software Solutions planted a pop up freezing my Dell computer and had me run "eventtvwr" to see all the errors and warnings regarding my virus infected network which needed immediate fixing. Then he ran "msconfig" to see apps that had been stopped charging for a "guaranty lifetime" contract $399.99. Citi Bank Visa signature credit card is slow in in- vestigating them. Complaints to various regulators, such as fbi.gov/cybercrime, ftc.gov' BBB, and others have been launched immediately.
Indian man called today saying from Microsoft and I had a big software error that may erase everything on my computer! We had to hurry--not much time remaining. I could check errors for myself Event Viewer/Admin Events and he offered to do the remote access thing to fix for me.
Since he phoned me, I felt suspicious and asked for a phone number so I could call to be sure it was Microsoft, gave me 860-222-2728. He seemed flustered and just faded away without a good-bye.
I am a 60-year old lady who is aware of scams, but this fellow was so helpful and convincing it made me upset and a bit scared.
I wonder what could have happened to me and my computer......
just received a call from this V TECH. I knew right off that It was a scam. If you have an issue with your software Microsoft will never cold call people. You would have to call Microsoft.
I just got a call from Tech Support 247 their number is 860 222 2728 telling me that they're from Microsoft, and the guy
on the phone (with heavy Indian accent) had to pass me to his "Senior Technician"
A Senior Tech agent only comes into the picture WHEN the problem at hand is too great for the person helping can't handle it, in this case, the Senior Technician is the help, so who is above the Senior Technician, the Super Senior Technician?
Anyway he shows me the usual event log, which I read online, is a log of all the events that have happened throughout the time has been used and a normal computer will have errors and what not,
tells that I would have to pay 299.99 or 249.99 with eCheck so on and so fourth and in the end he dismisses me kindly.
When you are called ask for an agent ID (anyone who calls from Microsoft officially will have an ID on them for verification purposes WITH Microsoft) should of done this sooner, but next time I guess.
