I just received a voicemail from this number. The caller claimed to be from the "Home Welcoming Center" and welcomed me to the neighborhood. He then proceeded to tell me about how I can receive a free home security system by returning his phone call.
I did not just move into a new neighborhood, and even if I had, no neighborhoods give out free security systems through a secondary company. This is either a wrong number or a scam-- probably a scam since my area code is 757, not 860.
Robo-called on my cell by this number, also hung up as soon as I answered
Called it back and got a "press 1 to be put on our do not call..
Filed a report with FTC
I try to keep these people on the line, and then be as abusive as i can without breaking any laws. Whether the calls are scams or not, it is illegal to make sales calls to cell phones. The other common scam that i'd been recently getting calls about is a credit card consolidation / rate reduction offer. They work with ALL MasterCard and Visa accounts. Right!
Why am i abusive to them?
1) These people are trying to rip me off, they deserve it.
2) They are merely a waste of time
