They've called me several times a day. John is a recording. I understand the scam is telling you that you're entitled to a medical alert device that "someone" already has paid for. They they rip their victims off for a monthly service fee.
Though "John" is a good actor--I'll give him that much--he's a robocall. The scammers are breaking all sorts of laws just making these calls.
Unknown caller so I let my machine answer. This was the EXACT message!
"Hi this is John from shipping dept. of "Emergency Medical Alert". I was call calling to SCHEDULE DELIVERY [Seriously??] of your 'Medical Alert System". It's the "I've fallen and can't get up" type system" you've seen on TV.... It looks like this system has been recommended by thousands of hospitals and medical professionals, and let's see..."
Then I could hear the sound of 'John' ruffling pages in his "pitch book"] .. I cut off the message machine- he was apparently going to FILL my machine with the entire sales pitch!!!
Freaking sad!!
