They likely didn't "get" your number but instead are simply calling all numbers in a given sequence. And the scammers need to be found before they can be prosecuted. (Persecuted means something completely different)
My cell phone ID stated: 862-204-8165, 1:56 PM, 8/13/17, Madison, NJ. Didn't answer, didn't leave any message. Second time they have called - last time was a month ago. Blocked
I meant persecuted not prosecuted - Persecute: To subject (someone) to hostility and ill-treatment. Torment, torture, oppress, abuse. I have always been a kind person and have never wanted to see anyone harmed but after 30 calls a week, on my cell and on my home phone, I am truly sick of these low lifes. The president can hire federal officials to hunt them down, put them in jail and then torture them with ringing phones and fast busy signals for the rest of their paltry lives.
Except that it isn't illegal for charities to call. There are no current federal laws that dictate how much must be given by the call center owners to the charity. There are no current federal laws that dictate how much of the money collected must be used for the purpose of the charity. Therefore, the call center can donate 1 or 2 percent of the money collected to the charity. The people running the charity can collect large salaries and give very little to the people that need it. The President cannot "hire federal officials" to hunt people down. That is not within his purview. The DOJ already has people to catch criminals. Since these people are not classified as such, they aren't going to be pursued. If you want things to change then you will have to petition your Congressmen/women to make a law to change things. Then the President can sign that law and make it valid. Oh, and what you call "persecuted" is illegal as per the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, and is also supported by numerous case law (common law)>
