Received phone call from this number - thick middle eastern accent leaves number to call back 863 332 7966. Phone not in service then I read these posts.
I received a call from a pre-recorded message from 888-272-7812. A guy with a thick middle eastern accent claims his name is Steve Martin and I need to call him back at 863-332-7966. Says something about the US Treasury. Sounds suspect.
There is a widespread IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers on both Canadian and USA residents.

Short answer:
The IRS never initiates a contact via phone.
They always send a snailmail first.
