I got a call too. Unfortunately, I do owe some money, but didn't have a job all of 2009. Fortunately, my phone lets me input the debt collector's number and then chose a "no ring" option, so I am not bothered too much when they call.
Scam, scam, scam! No, I am not Vera Brown. I do not think Vera Brown exists! If you want to pose as a law firm, you should learn some protocol. A law firm does not answer a phone call with "This is Steve" and hang up on a person asking them not to call again!
I reported you to the Attorney General of North Carolina and South Carolina.
We get calls from this number even on the weekends. I also have a phone I can not only turn off the ringer for that number, but I can go online and setup a list of 'blocked calls' and it'll stop even coming through altogether. I suggest if you have Verizon or ATT voip or any other, do the same.
Since when do bottom-feeder debt coll'r attorney's work on the weekends. It's most likely a call-center contracted by the lawyers' who are trying to make a little extra money on the side buying junk debt. If the call's coming from an attorney, logic being that ppl will be more freaked out and will pay up. We're filing Chap 7 anyway in the next couple of weeks, so they'll go away soon enough.
THEY CONTINUE TO CALL EVEN AFTER I TOLD THEM TO STOP I DON'T KNOW THE PERSON THEY ARE ASKING FOR! THIS IS GETTING OLD! SOMEBODY NEEDS TO SHUT THESE PEOPLE DOWN!
We have been called for 2 weeks every night & day from 864-298-1130 asking for some on who is not at my number. I am retired from Feds & Sheriff and know these calls are complete jokes.
I ask everyone who has been called to call back 864-298-1130 and ask for SANTA and tell them this call is recorded and sent to the FBI. Let them know we know where they are and We are will have them sent to jail on Federal Law. This is a crime and you can violate state & Federal Laws.
Report these calls to your local phone company and have this 864-298-1130 blocked from you phone.
