I got a message from the phone number 1-574-387-9450.

The text message that this number sent me said THE CREDIT UNION CENTER ALERT: Your CARD has been DEACTIVATED. Please call 864-336-4282.

I do not wish to have this number call me and I will not be calling the number that it sent.

Got the same message. It's a smishing scam. When you call the number, it asks for all 16 digits of your card to activate it. Clearly, they just want to harvest numbers.

They want numbers? Well, give them some fake numbers then! First dial *67 to block transmission of your number to their CallerID (if they have it), then call early, call often, and punch in fake numbers.
