A "dad" of 16-year old who claimed to be 18 on POF, is telling my son to send $1200 tp cover damages or he will call the police. Hes got my son so scared and panicing, but calling him "Son" and doing every other typical think that a sexting scammer does. Its cruel, but it appears to be something they get away with a lot. I doubt the police car.Scammers number is 864-602-3238. Why is South Carolina yhe land of all sexting scammers?
Your son is not alone. There are several threads here about this scam. Its extortion and your son needs to file a complaint with the local LE for extortion and also with IC3, the cyber crimes division of the FBI.

Yes it is an extortion scam being run on or by that site. There are numerous number threads her with the same story. Make a police report both to your local PD and to the South Carolina PD.
Common scam. Calls on several numbers, usually with an 800 range area code. Uses the word "son" a lot. He's attempted to scam at least 2000 people on the basis of complaints I've read on this site. He seems to be located in SC, but no one knows where. Go to police and make a complaint of attempted extortion. Now.
