A woman called my mother, told there was a problem with her checks, she was going to give her some new numbers and she would need to get out her check book. My mother said "Ok, I have it." The woman then says, "ok, what's your date of birth?" My mother said why should I give you that? and the caller promptly hung up.
Man called me stating that my healthcare coverage was not going to cover my medical expenses after the next 15 day. (funny, I'm having surgery in 14 days, and insurance told me on the phone earlier that everything was fine) Anyway, he was trying to sell me a medical discount card so I could receive 80% discount on all medical related expenses. He said he worked for the US Govenment. I asked him for a phone number where I could call him back after discussing it with my husband. He said the phone number was a "secret number" and was only available to paying clients. He then asked me to give him the member numbers from my check book. I asked him what numbers? He replied, "the ones listed at the bottom" I said that's my routing and account number. He said oh no, that is a secret member number. I told him I may be stupid, but I'm not that stupid.
