Person is using number to contact people in an attempt to scam them in obtaining their PayPal account information so they can access the account and steal from the victim. These people also will attempt to purchase items under the victims PayPal account causing the victim to be responsible to pay for the items they never purchased. Someone using this number texted me right after I posted a car for sale on craigslist in California, asking if it was still for sale (heck, it had been all of 10 minutes). Five days later, I got this response, at 1 a.m. (4 a.m. South Carolina time) in three messages: "Thanks for your quick response. Am trying to know condition" [which I had posted, btw], "because am buying asap as a Birthday gift for my Dad,so can you assure me that I will not be disappointed, also no shipment involved as i have a mover that will come over for the pick up and kindly back to me with you last price, as am requesting this transaction should be done via PayPal so the charges is on me and Payment will be" Here's how I responded at 1 a.m: "Sold." Here's how I responded when I woke up this morning: "I have reported your scam, [***]."
Now I must say, the spelling and grammar of scammers seems to have significantly improved since the last time a Nigerian tried to scam me, but the syntax, lack of cultural knowledge, and "thanks for the quick response" after 5 days were all dead giveaways, not to mention the obvious: mover, Pay Pal, etc. I was never going to see the buyer. How naive he must think I am. That car of mine was sold to a local within a day after several normal, local inquiries.
