Who called from 8647358738

This phone number posted a listing on Craigslist for a free washer and dryer, requesting to be texted to this phone number. When I did, they texted me to say that they would send me another text with a number in it and for me to text them back with that number to verify that I was a real person and not a scammer. They sent me several messages and then a copy of a message from Craigslist with a number.  I responded but then they did not ever respond back. The listing on Craigslist was removed.

The email address associated with this phone number (according to Craigslist) is [email protected]

I replied to a similar posting; however the only difference was the email address was [email protected].  So what did the person accomplish?

Did anyone ever find out what this person accomplished?

Not for sure but I believe the reason for the scam is to get a new number for a business listing in CL.  In order to have a business listing, CL texts a 4 or 5 digit number to  your (required) cell phone as a verification process. If you do shady business practices CL will ban your account and the phone number associated with it.  Then to setup a "new" account you must use a different number.  I'm just guessing but it does seem logical.
