Same story aas many of the above. I've learned that if I don't recognize the phone number, I let it ring 4 times. If it's from computerized calling, they hang up by then. It's just irritating when you come running from outside or other places to catch these types of calls.
Received a call from 865-622-9038 and when I said hello the call was disconnected. I tried to call it, but it's been busy for the last 5 minutes. Does anyone know who this number belongs to and why so people are receiving calls and then a hang up?
I called until I got a live person and she stated it is an organization representing breast cancer awareness and are collecting donations and pledges. She stated the calls are made from a computerized system that automatically dials the numbers and she apologized for the hangup. Anyway, I then advised her that we are on a do not call list and asked that my telephone be removed. She took my info (phone # dialed) and stated it would take 2 (two) business days, but it would be removed.
got a call today, the guy says he's taking donations for the Vietnam Vets, I told 'em I was skeptical of these types calls which is why we donate through our church. He tried to explain that he is not scamming. I suggested contacting a church for donations, he said churches do not donate to vietnams vets, I advised him that's not true as our church donates time and money for a fact.
Have traced this call, and another number that called shortly after 256-585-6215 both are apparent scammers.
If you get these calls, keep them on your line for atleast 30 secs. Then call your phone company to report them, unless you already have call trace on your phone.
