This is most likely the 'Your computer has a problem" scam.
They will have you open Window's Event Viewer and for you to notice the entries in the list marked with 'ERROR', which are easily found because of the letter 'X' inside a red circle preceeding the entry. If you fall for this fraud, they'll have you go to a website and download an application which supposedly finds lots of malware on your system and offers to remove it for a fee. The application itself is malware. The malware it finds are either not present at all, or are put there by the application itself.
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Every Windows system on this planet contains one or more 'errors' in the Event Viewer list. It's completely normal. The scammers know this, and use the presence of those 'errors' in an attempt to scare their victims.
RESPONSE:
Best response is to just hang up on them.
But if you want to have some fun and play them along to waste their time, just act concerned and follow their directions to open the event viewer. When they ask you how many 'errors' you see, just say 'none'. When they have you scroll down the list, just say something like, 'Nope, all I see are entries marked 'information''.
At this point your scammer will be stymied out of his script and might put you on hold to get advice from his scam boss on what to say next. When he comes back on the phone he'll likely still want you to go to their website to download their malware. At that point pretend to comply, and then say something like 'hey, my security software just popped up a notice that you're trying to send me to a malicious website and says that you're a filthy panty-sniffing swindler'!
