I have received a number of calls from this number, both at my office (a U.S. Government number) and on my cell phone. The latest was on my cell phone, which allowed me to finally capture the number.
When I answer, a recorded message tells me that this is my "last chance" to extend the warranty on my vehicle, and admonishes me to not "make the mistake" of driving my vehicle with an expired warranty. It then offers me "press 1 to speak to an agent". In the past, when I've pressed 1, I have gotten a person, but as soon as I start telling the agent that they have reached me by mistake (my car is 10 years old; there's no warranty), the agent immediately hung up on me. I did that twice.
Received a call from this number as a "second notice"... I have no outstanding service needs nor requests. I called the number back and naturally it hits a recording that it is "no longer in service". This seems to be typical of scams.
Same and same. What's the scam? What do they want? I actually tried pressing 1 to talk to a representative and just heard the sound of a phone ringing.
I can see that they may just be trying random numbers but for what purpose?
