I picked up, silence, said hello again, and what sounded like a recording asked "Is Michael there?", I said wrong number, and the recorded voice said "sorry about that, we'll update our records" and hung up. Really weird.
Caller didn't leave a message on my machine and the caller id said "EASTER SEALS" which probably means telemarketer/scammer since every legitimate caller I know leaves a message. So I ran 3 reverse traces using 3 different types of traces and all were blocked for a person or business name and the only information was a general location of Chicago, Illinois using a service provider of NEUTRAL TANDEM-ILLINOIS, LLC. This is definitely a scammer that is either spoofing numbers and/or using a Voip system while phishing for personal information and running some scam ( i.e. EASTER SEALS CHARITY etc. ). A legitimate business would never hide their identity and location from the public by blocking a trace. DON'T ANSWER AND DO NOT CALL BACK FOR ANY REASON. Block and report to the proper authorities. Phone companies should be held responsible for these types of calls since they are making money from them by providing the systems and services that these scammers use and possibly farming out numbers too.
