I keep receiving calls from an anonymous phone number stating there is a problem with my computer. He says he is Microsoft Certified and his company server is being notified there is an issue with my computer which is why he is calling me.
I notified him two times last month to stop calling and that my phone number is on the Do Not Call Registry. I also told him I do not use a Microsoft operating system so I know his call is a scam. He apologized last month and said he would immediately remove my number from his registry however today it's starting again as I received two more calls from a man who sounds Indian and calls himself Bob.
He says his company name is Expert Support and they are located in Jacksonville, FL. I asked for his phone number and he gave a phone number of 901 290-7209 and said he does not have an extension.
I waited a while and called the number back just to see if it would work. I was expecting it to be a bogus number however a person who sounded exactly like Indian Bob answered the phone with a "hello" and not as a business. I asked to speak with Bob several times but he kept asking for my name which I would not give him so I told him I had to go and would call back later since he would never put the call through to "Bob".
I reported this to the FTC and hope they can do something to put a stop to this guy. I'm confident he is making a living off the elderly who are not computer savvy and believe his lie that there is a serious issue with their computer. Very sad people do these kinds of ploys to make a dishonest buck!
Microsoft: There is something wrong with your computer.....901-290-7209. This was the call back number given to me when I told the caller that I was going to check out his company....also he said that I could go on line to IEXPLOETECH.COM. I did not do either.
901-290-7209 says he was authorized for microsoft computers . We are a company that has an in house computer tech. I googled the # and I saw complaints
Rec'd a call at my home from a man with an Indian accent stating that he was from Microsoft and that my Windows program was not allowing updates because of problems with my computer. I asked to speak with a supervisor, then requested a call back number. This is the number he gave stating that they were from Canada. Whatever you do DO NOT follow their instructions or fall for this SCAM. I have no idea what company they are from and don't care. I have had no problems with my computer, and I'm furious about this.
Had a guy call today saying that my computer wasn't allowing the correct updates to happen. I asked him what kind of computer/windows I was using and he was unable to answer. I asked him to please give me his phone number so I could call him back "when I got home". After giving me a number, I asked him why he was calling me from a 201 area code and the phone number he gave me this 901 phone number. He tried to backpedal and say that it was a 201 number and I had heard him incorrectly, but it was a completely different phone number. He hung up on me.
Thanks for the comments, Just got a call from 901-290-7209, Indian accent, said the computer was being hacked as we spoke. Asked for a call back number and more information. Said he was Daniel Smith, #012 and he worked for Expert Support, not Microsoft directly. Not calling back...thanks for the comments.
