I just got a call from this # too stating they're the IRS and saying there is a lawsuit against me. Sounds fishy cinsidering I have no overdue debts and pay all my taxes and then some... Anybody get scammed by this?
Got this same call this morning about an hour ago .My boyfriend called them back told them he is disability and couldn't get any money from him.I told him to hang up it was a scam , I stupidly got on the phone gave them my name and they hung up on me. I think it was because my boyfriend was yelling " it's not scam" When my boyfriend was on the phone he got the same name John Wilson and badge number
Robotic voice. Stated the IRS is filing lawsuit. Interestingly, I just spoke to the real IRS a few days ago. There's no lawsuit of any kind. This is fraud. Not planning on calling them back.
I just got scammed by Officer Alan Walker (badge #IRM518425); he told me that in August 2015 I got audited for the years 2008-2012. There were miscalculations on my taxes of (and I quote) "an even amount of $5250.00". I had 2 options: 1. Pay the balance or 2. hire a CRIMINAL attny (specified criminal), Go to DC, fight the case in person in the courthouse. I asked more about option #1 -how do I pay the balance. He said "oh you want to pay it?" I said "no I asked about how to pay it." This is where we got disconnected a few times. Silly me -I even called him back for more information. He told me that he had 3 questions. #1 -do I have the funds. I said no. He said ok then don't worry we will work on a monthly payment plan for you. How much can you afford? I said I'm not sure. He said in order to continue, he needed a number. I said (after much argument) "Let's say $50". He said are you committing to $50? I said absolutely not, I'm using a hypothetical number for a hypthetical situation, since you cannot give me an address in which to mail a check. I shoudl mention, I had asked for an address several times, getting "I'm not authorized to give out that information" several times. Once he offered to transfer me to his Supervisor (since I wouldn't provide him any more information) the call got disconnected again. I should also add that they had an old address on file for me from about 8 years ago. They don't know where I live and are basing all of this information off of my cell phone number. I did provide them with the following information before realizing what was going on:
1. I confirmed my cell phone number (they asked for house but I don't give that out to anyone)
2. my name, although I did not spell it and my name is a tough one to spell.
3. They asked for my current address once I told them that was an old address and I did NOT give that out.
