same issue here, a young man said he was from out of town, selling magazine subscriptions, they sold me a subscription for 42 bags! You know... you try to help out those young people selling house to house... well no more... they're ruining it for all those other people who are really, legitimately working hard.
Same thing. Young black male came to door with story of three young children, trying to do right by them and his family, trying to have a better life. I only wanted one mag and he made me feel so bad for only wanting one because he said one doesn't help much--but I really only had money for one ($37! if you included "process and handling"). Even came back a little later to see if I'd changed my mind. Neighborhood kids started taking him around to their houses just to help him out--convinced other moms to buy. I hate to think what they are thinking, the same I am thinking--wow, you try to help someone out. You KNOW $25 is a lot for most of those magazine subscriptions, but you think--this is a chance to help change someone's life. Then they cheat you. I think you are right, I can't image buying from someone selling door to door again, which is a shame.
I bought "gift" magazine subscriptions for St. Jude Children's hospital from a "Mike Pinedo" with Greater Image Inc. Same story as above...trying to make a better life for his kids, former gang member, etc. I sent a cancellation request after ordering because I had misgivings about the order. They cashed my check anyway (after I placed a stop payment on the check, but I'll take that up with my bank). These guys are jerks. They'll be sorry if they show up on my doorstep again. And this Mike character better hope he's using an alias.
Same here. They were in our neighborhood and I paid $152.00 to donate 'magazines' to the Ronald McDonald House' for the next three years! I put a stop payment on my check. What a shame...
