Received an automated message stating a recent purchase on my debit or credit card has been declined and to press 1 to speak with someone immediately... I knew this was bogus at this point but wanted to see just for my own curiosity so I press 1 phone rings funny then SURPRISE debt collector for a bogus payday loan...lol ignore it
called today and said paper work was ready to mail, one last attempt to clear up debt from back in 2006 which had been taken care of. hung up on him. tired of these threatening calls when debts have been paid. too bad these scam debt collectors got our numbers thru our credit reports, which he said they did not buy.
The Caller ID was Memphis, TN. I've received the same recorded message from numbers with Caller IDs of Harrisburg, PA and Oklahoma City. I've also received calls from the call back number within this message 405-896-7992 with Unknown as the Caller ID. I've received calls that left no message from all of these numbers that have also called and left the following message:
"We've made several attempts to contact you and for whatever reason, we have not heard back from you. It is very important that we speak with you and we urge you to press one to speak with a representative immediately or call us back today at 405-896-7992. Again, this is a very important matter that you need to deal with today. Please call us back at 405-896-7992 or press 1 to speak with a representative immediately. Thank you."
I do deal with the call "today," by recording their number, Caller ID, and any message in a log and then deleting it from my answering machine. And sometimes, I further deal with it by posting it on 800notes.com to warn others.
Apparently, they are attempting to collect debts that are not legally collectible, which have been paid, discharged through bankruptcy, or never existed. Some on 800notes.com have said they were trying to collect payday loans. I've never had one of those and I have no outstanding debt.

Scammers trying to collect on OLD OUT OF STATUE DEBT. Debt was paid April 2015 with REAL ATTNY with Real office and real address.....Some how even though debt was settled with attny my name and payment was not recorded in the Debt Collectors Universe. So now I am on this list that is getting sold to various low bottom collection agencys that pay $100.00 for a 1000 names, phone numbers, and old account information. I have had at least 10 different scam artist call with this bought information and tell me they are going to serve papers in attempt to extort money under the threat of service. They know that it is out of statue but are hoping that they hit the jackpot 3 or 4 or even 5 times a day. Here's the math. Buy a 1000 names for $100,..call 25 or 30 people per day with threats and inferance of legal action,... if 2, 3, or 4 people out of 25 calls "settle" uncollectable debt at $300 to $600 each you just had a GREAT DAY! $400 from 3 people is $1200 per day X 5 days a week= $6000 per week X 4 weeks a month = $24,000 month. Pretty good scam return on your $100.00 investment. THESE ARE SCAMMERS. Tell them it is OUT OF STATUTE and S%$K MY D*&^K!
