I got the same message y'all have. Funny though, I get a couple calls a day from the same area code saying "congratulations! You recently applied for a payday loan and have been approved..." and to go log on to some website with my info.
Well folks, this is a good one. CID says "Leonard, TX". A serious sounding recorded voice says you are in serious trouble with the Dept. of the Treasury, and you need to call them ASAP to avoid prosecution. These kinds of call don't usually seem funny but the thought of Treasury guys hanging out in Leonard, TX to pick on little ole me in California had me laughing for an hour.
Guy representing himself as US Treasury Dept. I'm in trouble for tax evasion even though it was a miscalculation on my 2012 taxes. Scam because my husband and I file as married and he is primary. They would be contacting him, not me, and never by phone people. Oddly they didn't want the money, just to tell me they were issuing a warrant for my arrest. Possibly because I laughed through half the phone call.
