Man called my cell phone at 9:07am asking for the female version of my male name. I said there was no one here by that name, ever. He quickly said he'd try back later and hung up before I could even say "Do not call list". I blocked them. Any caller who doesn't know my gender is using a telemarketer call list that truncates my name and they're just guessing.
I've been getting annoyingly persistent calls from unknown callers who don't leave messages. Lately the phone numbers are from Florida area codes. Most of these numbers come back as computer-generated voice operated by a scammer claiming to collect for various policeman's benefit organizations. I found no reports on 904-239-5324. But since the M.O. is the same I suspect this call is more of the same scam.
By the way, a real policeman's benefit would know it's against the law to make robo-calls to cell phone which are listed on the Do Not Call list. Based on that fact alone, even if they are (barely) legit, there's no way I'd make a donation to this bunch
I received about 7 calls from this # today (I blocked them after the 3rd call). I finally called the # back from my work line (made sure to block our outgoing # first), and the recording stated, "We're sorry; this # is no longer in service". That right there confirms it's a scam. They'll definitely stay blocked.
