Individual called today requesting donations for a fire department sponsored softball game to benefit child burn victims. Fast talking. When he finally took a breath, I explained my son-in-law was with JFRD and I donate through him. When I refused to give him my son-in-law's name (he asked three times), he said "Man, you're an idiot." Quite certain JFRD would not be pleased with this type of representation.
A man asked to speak to someon named Aurora, I said he had a wrong number.. he then continued to tell me that he was calling from the Jacksonville fraternal order police asking for donations to support law enforcement during memorial day weekend ..I said I have no money and he said it was ok, but then continued to tell me still that if he sends me something in the mail that I can donate that way.. Then after saying that I didn't have money, he said once again that I'd be saving on postage I'd I made an associated donation* over the phone... I just told him no, what the hell.. I normally don't pick up unrecognized numbers, but the only reason why I picked up this one was because I just got back home from the hospital and was waiting to hear back from a doctor's office for a scheduled ultrasound appointment. Ughh, I got this guy instead ..sounds fishy to me because he asked for a person's first name and continued to talk anyways.. Oh, and yes, I heard creepy breathing and a sorry pause before he started talking.. Definitely, not making donations over the phone..
Called me and when I called back was a long ringing tone. Tried to text and ask who it was and I got a message saying it was an invalid number. Probably a creep >:(
Fire Department asking for donations sometimes for children that are burn victims, sometimes for children that are fighting drug addictions(teens), They are legit and will only ask for donations once a year and send you a sticker for your car bumper.
