I received the exact same call and they told me I owed 5,485 and gave me the same story they told everyone else. Scary that they have the last 4 of my social and a very old email address that I haven't used in years . Anyone knows who these people are
Kevin Brown called me from this # - he had a very thick eastern accent. Claimed he was a "paralegal" and that "charges" were being "downloaded" in the courthouse tomorrow. He wanted my attorney information. I asked for the name and bar # of the attorney he worked for. He told me that was confidential information but he was going to pass me through to his "Affidavit processor" who had that information I was then connected to an Alex Brown who stated he was with arbitration department--- basically would not identify the company they represented- and told me that if I didn't pay them over 5,490.00 by tomorrow I would be charge with 3 counts under federal law: 1. Theft by check; 2. Theft by deception 3. Fraud by deception. Then he stated I would be arrested at my place of employment and that my employer would be given a copy of the charges against me because "they have a right to know" that I was a "habitual" offender. Then read me a version of the Miranda - stating that I had the right to an attorney and if I couldn't afford one, one would be appointed to me. I had the call on speaker and grabbed my iPad to record it so I can show it to the world!
I had the same exact call 20 minutes ago! They knew my email, bank name and last 4 of my soc! I'm calling the credit agencies now for high alert of fraud! My bank said it sounded like fraud.
I got this same call. I am a certified Paralegal so I asked them all the necessary questions. He couldn't give me an attorney's name (said he was one -asked for his bar nbr which he said was confidential). All he said was that papers were being filed against me (wouldn't say for what). Would give no info. I told him I knew this was a scam and he was full of it
Same thing just happened to me, but they continued to call back when I told them this was scam. Could not hardly even understand the guy, heavy eastern accent. Said that I would be receiving my court documents tomorrow at my home, I hadn't been responding to my emails in regards to this so called "debt". Knew the last 4 of my SS #.
Just received a call. Same exact thing the woman had a very strong eastern accent said the courts would be filing papers at the courthouse tomorrow asked for my attorney information but would not give me any information.
