Received call from this number, a woman claimed to be advertising for Florida Times Union. While she ran her line of 'info' I looked up Florida Times Union online. I had told her I would not want the 7 day delivery. She told me they also do Saturday and Sunday delivery. What I read on the Florida Times Union subscription site had 7 days, 6 days, then three days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Also being able to read the Times prices while she is naming very low prices was convenient. However the amount by the Florida Times and hers was way off. I told her, my only interest would be to get just the Sunday paper. Lo and behold she said, "we have just Sunday subscriptions also!" I love to toy with scammers, so I said, "I dont live in a great neighborhood, and only want the Sunday paper for the circulars with coupons, my luck someone would steal the paper before I woke up"! She then let me know the delivery people would be happy to put it right by my front door. I said, 'Too bad they cant open the screen door and drop it there, then no one would see it and steal it"! Guess what? They would be willing to deliver me a Sunday only paper for $13.58 total for three months and open my screen and drop it there! I've delivered papers in the past, unless things have changed, opening the door doesnt happen. Actually getting out of the car, doesnt happen either, except in a few rare instances. Caller ID said Unavailable but the number was there!
Florida Times Union must be using stay-at-home moms to do their telemarketing. Despite repeated requests to have my number removed from their list of blind calls, they call at least once every three weeks.
I finally took the time to use call blocking and hope this works. The woman calling from 904-414-4235 sounds very pleasant at first, but if you hesitate, she'll start a rapid-fire district attorney type of questioning--she goes right into her script and pretends she didn;t hear the loud "No thank you!"
She probably has used other numbers to call from, so don't be surprised if you keep hearing from her! Just hang up in the middle of her spiel. She's not helping Florida Times Union at all with her approach. Here's hoping you call blocking can actually block her calls.
Florida Times Union--again!!! These guys and gals are relentless. If you live in the Jacksonville or North Central Florida region--even Gainesville--be warned that they never give up!
