I just got a call from this number when I was sitting at my desk at work. My phone was on silent, so I missed the call and no message was left. After reading all of this I will not be answering if they call back.
I was receiving calls from this number for about 3 weeks until I finally called Wachovia and asked them what it was all about. The individual at the time said that it was because my account showed that they were allowed to solicit stuff to me and this was one of those calls. Don't ever recall signing up for that but it is probably one of those automatic things.
I asked them to remove me from ALL solicitation and they did. The calls stopped and I had no problems.
Today, I received another call from that same number. Called Wachovia and said WTH. Why am I receiving calls again there must be something with your system that is broke.
The individual assured me that I should not be receiving any calls from Wachovia. After I gave the rep the number he came back and said that it was NOT Wachovia. He was very helpful and immediately got someone from their Law Department on the phone.
I am still on the phone with them now so I will post an update once I receive it.
Okay. Got an update. The Law Department was not thrilled to hear the recording using Wachovia's name and then at the end it tells you to call another number. The other number is a different company that is not in any way affiliated with Wachovia. The issue is now being investigated and they will be putting out an alert to all customers once they find out if it is a phishing attempt or what the other companies motives are.
This is NOT WACHOVIA!! I received a call from this number, claiming to be Wachovia, asking to talk to me "about my account." After I asked for proof of that claim, the woman on the other end giggled and said "oh how do you expect me to prove that? It's impossible."
A quick call to Wachovia resulted in a fraud specialist confirming that this number, 904-489-8017 is not affiliated with Wachovia.
If you receive a call from this number, hang up immediately and contact your bank to ensure no unauthorized activity has occurred on your account.
from this number they refer you to call 866 371 7927 offering a financial check up and consolidation, when you call this number the same voice as the previous number answers. I will call tomorrow to see what it is all about
This number has called me twice and i ahve not picked up and I do not plan on it after the reports. They do not leave a message either. Seems a little weird to me.
