This variation on the theme has been popping up recently. I see you put down PCS as the caller, if there is anything else you know that might be useful, please post back. I would like to get a better sense of the angle and how the scam is presented and progresses.
No doubt it is a scam, so don't go calling these loons, but anything you can add would be useful. Sometimes the scam seems to be used by phony debt collectors, but there is an information "Phishing" angle that some scammers seem to be working. Thanks!
I too received a call about a pkg that was returned undeliverable and to press 1 which I did and "Katie" wanted me to confirm my ID and when I asked who tried to deliver this she would not give that info just said it was some legal documents and continued to try to get my name. Finally just tokd her I wasn't the person she was looking for,
This is the fake process server scam where they try to make you think you are being sued. Then they tell you that you can prevent service by calling another number, which, will tell you that for a certain amount of money you can make it all go away. This of course is and extortion attempt, and if you are foolish enough to pay them will go on and on. Process servers get paid to deliver papers, nothing more and nothing less. They do not call ahead and give you a heads up that they are coming so that you can evade them. They do not call strangers up and try to help them out, thus resulting in they themselves not getting paid because the papers were not delivered.
