I have received several computer generated messages from some agency that by the time my recorder kicks in has already given a number to press and went on to say: "... to connect to our office now. If we do not hear from you by the end of the business day we will assume you have no intent on resolving this matter and will proceed accordingly. Press 1 to connect to our office now, or you can reach us Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 855 405 2134."
Call the 855 number after hours and you will get a message saying "You've reached the claims department". Today, April 30, 2014 at 5:30 p.m EST, I was home and caught the call, pressed "1." A woman answered and said I was talking to the claims department. She asked for my home number so she could look up the issue. I gave it to to her and was told they were looking for someone and gave a name. She did NOT ask for my name. She did not give her own name. When asked what company she represented, she would only tell me that her company processed claims for multiple companies. She would not identify the company that was attempting to contact the person whose name she did give to me and said she was not legally able to discuss more. Then she hung up.
Scam? or data mining? or a genuine approach to finding someone for collections? It is certainly not as if my phone number is unlisted, so anyone who googled it would find my name.
Another odd call from a "claims" department. ..they might as well be a "stuff" department that sells "stuff".
They will not say what exactly they are calling about....just the general "claims" department.
