i made the misake of giving them the information they needed....they got a hold of my number but were asking about my mother, and now i feel like i have screwed things up by giving them the correct information. they are not part of the courier company they said cause i got a bad feeling and looked it up. and i tried to call back but the line was dead. does anyone know who these people are??? any information would be helpful
I am now added to the list of speedy courier scam service. I received the call at 11am this morning, 905-683-6000. When I picked up a lady introduced herself from Speedy Courier. "Is this **********?" I asked who was calling. " I have a package for you, is this **********?" She said. Call it intuition, I immediately hung up. I immediately googled the number. It was routed through three different cities but eventually I tracked it down to Distributel. As I continued searching I came across this post and then a 2nd post on the Toronto 416 969-5000 exchange which was used as far back as 2010. To my surprise the posts on the second # jogged my memory to an earlier event a few weeks back. I arrived home to find a Canada Post courier slip on my front door. Something about it seemed off. I knew I was not expecting documents or a package so I threw it out. As I began reading more about the 416 # I learned that Speedy Courier actually impersonated Canada Post employees, Bank of Montreal employees, RCMP officials and government benefit employees. I realized that these people had actually been to my home a few weeks back. As I did not attempt to contact the number on the phone slip they ramped up their insidious perversion to calling my cell # to make direct contact with me. Thankfully I hung up after I told Speedy Courier that I was not who they were looking for. I then contacted Distributel and launched an investigation. Surely after five years of using Distributel I couldn't have been the only person lodging a complaint. Mike in customer care was terrific and hopefully he will get back to me. My husband then called the 866 # for Speedy Courier and left a message with an address for an empty house down our street. We will keep our watch on the house to see if any mysterious courier slips get taped to the door. After some more groundwork several important things were realized. First, it appears that these thugs are contracted by Global Credit located just outside Toronto. Global Credit is as nasty a collection agency can be, horrible complaints are listed against them. Second, if you (like me) don't have credit issues get in touch with Equifax and have your bureau flagged. Third, let your friends/family know that they may receive a similar call asking personal information about you. Fourth, contact your local police department, as this is handled on a provincial level. I am anticipating more calls as most people who have submitted their experiences have stated. If it continues I will confirm my address as the same as my local police agency....happy hunting Speedy Courier, we are on to you ;)
I had this same caller call me. I read that it is Global debt collectors. A woman also called me and told me about a package that they were delivering to me it would cost 33 dollars for me to get she said they were magzines. Like a fool I gave them my information. Now I don't know what is going to happen. I called back and the number does not work. People do not give them your information. I am hoping that nothing happens and they don't call me again. I will keep checking this site if anyone has more information please post it. I am going to report it to the police for sure.
