Within 30 minutes, I received six calls from people at five different New Jersey numbers who could barely speak English. Their boss, "Ashee," wanted to be connected with various managers, at which time they'd reveal the purpose of their call. I told them, with increasing irritation, that we don't transfer calls without knowing the reason and also that I knew they were all connected before hanging up -- I slammed down the receiver on the last three after advising that they not try back. In addition to the inquiry from this number, the others were 732-253-4159, 551-222-3053, 973-270-9374, and (two from) 201-231-7241.

Have lost count of how many times Man With Accent has phoned on behalf of his supervisor, Charles, for the same manager (and now the executive assistant) from a wide range of numbers: 973-803-4377 through 4389, 862-204-3348, and those listed in my previous post (all New Jersey). He claims that his boss will divulge the purpose upon being connected. Sorry, but we don't make transfers under those conditions. No form of discouragement -- telling him off, sending him to Purchasing / fax machine / unassigned voicemail, etc. -- seems to work. And I've been informed that the company telephone system doesn't allow per-call blocking . . . .
