I'm glad I just checked this out. I told them to come and clean my chimney. Called back to cancel and the number not in service. I guess I'll cancel if they show up.
Caller ID showed "Cell Phone NJ". Just for sh*ts and giggles I answered this one. Female caller with a slight Caribbean accent asked for me by name and said she was from D&H. I asked, "who is D&H?". She replied "a chimney cleaning service". I told her she was violating the DNC list because I have no business relationship with such a company. She indicated I was not correct, and asked "when did you sign up with them?", to which I replied "never". Then asked for the real phone number for the company, and her name so I could report the illegal call. She then explained that I was not correct about the DNC because "you have to sign up with them and they give you a PIN number" - that's a good one! Told her she was wrong, and she replied "thank you sir, and have a merry Christmas".... to which I replied "go f.... yourself".
Just got a call from the same guy, though he said he was with H & R (so I assumed the tax company H & R Block). He happened to ask for a family member of mine by name, and when I told him he has the wrong #, I asked for his so I can give it to her, he goes, "You gotta pen and paper?" When I said, "yes," he hung up.
