I received a call from this number today at 1:47pm. The voice message was computer generated and stated I needed to call officer Nikki Johnson with the IRS back before action was taken against me. The message said it was time sensitive and asked me to return the call with the phone number of my "attorney on file."
Hi got the call from the number about an hour ago, same story as you were saying. But have it on my voicemail. The computer voice says she/it is officer nickie Johnson from the IRS. Was saying to call the number back and it was a time sensitive issue.
One of the issues I can see with this is its a California number and don't think the IRS works out of California( could be wrong). Also if the IRS has an issue with you from what ive been told, they would only communicate through good old snale mail( us mail).
Hope this helps
The IRS does have local offices in most major metropolitan areas so if you were to receive a call, it would come from an office local to you. However, the IRS always initiates contact with taxpayers via US Mail and only calls after contact has been established.
