Received a call just a few minutes before and when answered hung up immediately. Number was 714-681-2364 but not sure if was related...could be. Then a few minutes later received the call 909-296-7296 from George at GE Solutions asking me how old my furnace is. Said he was calling on behalf of the CA energy initiative. I asked if I have a relationship with the company and he said no but do you want one. I asked to speak to a supervisor and he said he is the supervisor. I asked if he checked the Do Not Call Registry and he said no. I told him I'll be filing a complaint and he said go ahead and take care of your business and then he repeated the company name without being asked.
Caller didn't leave a message on my machine and the caller id said "Service" which probably means telemarketer/scammer since I didn't call for any type of service and every legitimate caller I know leaves a message. So I ran 3 reverse traces using 3 different types of traces and all were blocked for a person or business name and the only information was a general location of Upland, California using a service provider New Cingular Wireless PCS, LLC which is favored by scammers. This is definitely a scammer that is either spoofing numbers and/or using a Voip system while phishing for personal information and running some scam ( i.e. Solar Energy, Green Solutions etc. ). A legitimate business would never hide their identity and location from the public by blocking a trace. DON'T ANSWER AND DO NOT CALL BACK FOR ANY REASON. Block and report to the proper authorities. Phone companies should be held responsible for these types of calls since they are making money from them by providing the systems and services that these scammers use and possibly farming out numbers too.
