Received a text message on August 16, 2016 which said: "WhatsApp code 643-837.  You can also tap on this link to verify your phone: v.whatsapp.com/643837."  One minute later the exact message was texted from 619-736-4244.  I have no idea what this is about so I just blocked both numbers.
