This is definitely an overseas style social engineering attempt to scam personal information and credit card numbers. Just like all of the other tech support hoax calls, a guy with a heavy Pakistani or Indian accent who speaks fairly good English calling himself something like Bob, Andrew or Larry wants to help you fix your "problem with the windows computer". This one is persistent and has called me 4 times in the last two days so I blocked it. Hang up or toy with them if you don't mind wasting your time! Tell them you don't own a computer. Or ask them for their IP address, UN and PW and personal financial information so you can hack and rob them! Who falls for this crap?
They call and say that my HP computer is loading malicious software. When I tell them my computer has not been turned on and connected to the internet for over 6 months they tell me that someone else in my home must be using it. I really don't think my dog is that smart...
They call and have Indian accents. They say they are from HP teck service. They try to get you to get onto your computer so that they can tell you what to do to fix your computer.....while they are logging into your puter and hacking you! Don't answer the phone to callers you do not know!
This is a scam for information, access to computers. I've received 20 calls in the last 3 days, some I've answered, some I've ignored. They identify themselves at HP Tech Support, say that my computer is sending them error messages. I've asked for a return phone number, but they hang up. I blew a whistle into the phone the last time they called.
