Same, I wonder if this is the same scam going around SCC?
It has come to our attention that a scam is circulating around campus.
This is an email received at SCC sounds similar.
This scam can come in different ways. One is a flyer offering an employment opportunity. The other is through direct email stating they obtained your contact information from one of your instructors.
Once employment is agreed upon the employee will tell you they are sending you a check to cash. They will also instruct you to return part of the proceeds of the check to them. The check is a counterfeit. If you cash it, your bank will later inform you the check is fake. You will be required to reimburse the bank for the full amount of the check.
If you have seen this flyer or been contacted by direct email please contact campus police or other local law enforcement immediately.
Well here it is around 10 am on a saturday and 910-258-0240 just called and i did a google search of the number since i did not recognize it. glad i did and saw these posts....not sure what the scam is about but im blocking this number....they wont call me again
