I switched from EFT to a bill last month. The bill states that it should be sent out by the 1st, but if they get it by the 15th, it won't be considered late. The bill even includes instructions on how to set up your EFT so you get the funds withdrawn on the 15th. This debt isn't even late yet.
I'm getting calls from different numbers, at least 10 times a day. This all started on Monday, the 3rd. The 2nd was on a Sunday, which is probably the only reason the calls waited until the 3rd.
It's bad enough they screw over desperate people with ridiculous interest rates. They could at least wait until it's past the 15th. They also don't need to call so often. Obviously, if I didn't answer the first 10 calls, I'm not going to answer the next 50.
It is Cash Call and they are continually calling my cell phone and even called my office phone....which I quickly informed them to never do again because my bosses do not allow personal phone calls. I set up a late payment but continue to get phone calls. I asked to speak to the supervisor who informed me that they were accepting my late payment and that I had to pay immediately. My response was "OR WHAT?". They left me alone for about a week, but started back up today... the payment arrangement is for tomorrow.
They call my work everyday and as I have talked to a lawyer it is against the law to harass me at my work. So I researched and this is what I found about calling me at work....To answer the question; they can call as long as you don't put a stop to the calls. Once you put a stop to the calls, any calls after that point means that you need to file an official complaint with your Attorney General and then sue that company. Here's how to instantly stop the bill collectors from calling your job. Your protection is hidden in a little known law in the (FDCPA) Fair Debt Collection Practices Act,
So if they keep calling you at work make arrangements with a lawyer and sue them.
