Also have gotten two calls from this # in last two days. Haven't picked up b/c didn't know the # and didn't call back b/c they didn't leave a message. Just goggled them to find any info. and came across this posting. I thought maybe they were campaign calls but the previous poster's comment (silence on the other end) makes me think maybe not.
I also received a call today 10-3-08. I looked it up and itcame back to Briscoe NC. That is a small city off NC-220 east of here. It is a
phonebot. That means it is a computer used by telemarketing companies to determine if your number is a voice phone or a fax, or has a answering machine.
I worked for a telemarketing firm here in Fayetteville a few years ago. The phonebot is given an area code, a series set (868) and a range 0001-9999.
Then it has all (legal ones do) do not call lists, municipal offices, ect input. Then it dials the numbers. If you answer it marks a 1. If your answering machine answers it marks a 2, and if your fax answers it marks a 3.
Then the telemarking office sells this proffed list to telemarketing companies to call Fax or use a messaging bot to leave you a message.
Tonight they were working for A political team for some politician runnuing for election.

Ron, thanks for the headsup. I live in Raeford and have missed this call numerous times.. tried to call them back with nothing. I figured it was a political number due to the fact that I am registered as independent and kept getting "Vote For Hillary" calls when she was still in the running. Now, Obama's party keeps calling me. I am registered on the DO NOT CALL registry and continue to get calls. I have to inform the people that call me to remove me. We are also selling our house; so every phone call could be a home showing..so I usually answer all calls. Thanks again!
