received a phone call from this number and answered it and there was no answer. Called it back and it said it was not in use or disconnected. it was kinda of weird and like to find out more on this number and of course for it not to happen again.
I am usually reluctant to answer the phone of an area code of which I do not know anyone. But I decided to pick up the phone and say, "What are you trying to sell me, today?" There was no answer so I hung up the phone right away. I would like to get to the bottom of the story behind this phone number so if anyone finds out it would be great to know. Thanks.

Got a call from this number tonight - mid-eve - by the time I found my cell I thought the caller would have hung up, but no, yet when I answered they hung-up. When I reversed the number online - it's apparently a Georgia USA area code...
This is a SPOOFED number. You can re-write 912-345-6789 as 9 + 123456789. Notice a familiar sequence of digits? If you DO choose to answer it, just be aware that you're going to be talking to a fraudster.
I received a call from 9 123456789 tonight (March 6, 2008).
I received a call from 6 123456789 one week ago (Feb 29, 2008). See the info for 612-345-6789 here: http://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-612-345-6789
I think this is just the latest technique that SCAM ARTISTS (do not confuse with honest telemarketers) use to mask their identities and try to come off as calls you might actually want to pick up.
I recommend that you do a CALL TRACE immediately AFTER you receive a call from this faked out number. (Usually, you dial *57 to do this.) The phone company should be able to compare the displayed number to the actual number it came from. Read up on this feature in the front of your telephone book white pages.
