Rec'd call from 913-364-3319 on my cellphone. No msg left. I don't answer unknown numbers, since I have only a couple of people who call me on my cell. Most of these scammer calls come in on my landline; don't know how they got my cell number. Assume it was a phishing expedition.
They are using a computer to dial all the phone numbers in a given area code, something commonly done by criminals whether they be debt collectors, IRS or other Federal Agent impostors, or telemarketers. If your area code was xxx, and your exchange was zzz, and if you set the computer to dial every number from xxx-zzz-0000 to xxx-zzz-9999 do you think your phone number would be in that group? Of course it would, and they try multiple times per day, week, and month, whatever to maximize the chance that they will get to talk to someone in order to steal money from you. They know that repeated calls get to be annoying. That is why your best defense on a cell phone is to block the number using built in technology or to download a free call blocking app.
