I have received numerous collection calls on my cell phone number asking for a "Dixie Smith".
For well over 2 years - I have shared I am NOT Dixie Smith.. and I have owned this phone number for probably 10 years at the minimum.
I shared I know this is a collection call of some sort and please stop calling me.
Calls will continue - and then stop for a short while - then I assume whatever the account is - the paper gets sold to another collection agency and is the calls begin again.
I have been told repeatedly that my number will be removed from the files-- which obviously is not happening as the calls again resume.
Not always but certainly this morning- the woman who placed the call was very rude. Then hung up on me.
It's a collection agency called LHR or Lewis Hastie Receivables. http://www.lhrinc.com/
They use caller ID spoofing so that a number from your state's area code appears on your caller ID display when they call. There was a show on Dateline NBC about them which was pretty funny. They are total clowns.
