This scammer responded to my Seattle-area Craigslist post through text after I gave my number. He claimed he would send a "mover" to pick up my bicycle (his "job" prevents him from picking up the bicycle himself, and his area code is from the NYC area) and send money through PayPal. I refused to give him my exact address, as I needed more information about where he was moving to/from. He then responded, describing the supposed "mover" as a "pickup agent" and seemed a tad too interested about the PayPal payment. This is when I decided to sever ties with him. I assume he roams Craigslist, looking for his next victim. PUTTING "CASH ONLY" ON YOUR CRAIGSLIST POST IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE, EXCEPT WHERE MET IN PERSON BY THE BUYER.
I was contacted by this number in the Seattle area. He said his name is Curtis Spencer. 30 minutes before our scheduled pickup with the "mover", he texted me that I needed to do this and that blah blah blah in order for the paypal payment to go through. I ultimately said I don't have time for this and canceled the transaction. When I went back and looked at the emails from "paypal" with the instructions for the payment to go through, it was super weird looking and looked nothing legitimate. The email was actually from consultant.com, not paypal. Do not fall for this, and do not give this person your address.
Hey so I just posed my motorcycle on Craigslist and this number got back to me very fast with a similar story about a mover and paypal so after that I got very suspicious so I looked up the number and sure enough this site come up so pls be safe out there and don't trust the random bs people try to do
Scammer. Here is his exact text to me regarding my 4x4 quad I'm selling in the Seattle area.
"i appreciate your response, I think this is exactly what am looking for, I want to buy this for someone really dear to me so am very serious about buying perhaps I will pay through Pay Pal if that is acceptable. Send me some closeup pics because I won't be able to see it myself due to nature of my job. Pickup will be after your account is credited and I will arrange for a mover who will come for the pickup at your preferred location once payment is confirmed. I have few questions
1. is that your last price ?
2. Any negative things I should know ?
3. Where do you live ?"
I replied to him & said "no thanks" with screenshots of this website.
