Most likely these are precursors of a money laundering scam.
Look for signs of a scam in the example below:
The person wants to use your service, unseen.
They will pay upfront with a money order, cashiers check, bank draft, or via a online money transfer service like PayPal. If by PayPal, they will want your email address attached to your PayPal account.
As the back and forth dialogs continue, some "issue" will occur; They send you a check for too much, they decide that do not want the service but for your troubles you can keep a portion of the money just send back the balance, or some emergency happened and the appointment must be delayed so only return a portion of the money, in order to get the persons or products to your location you need to send a portion of the money they send you to a transport/shipping agent, or there is some issue with PayPal.
What then happens is while you believe you have the money from the person, and you are going to send it all or a portion back or to an agent, you are instructed to send it via wire transfer or pre-paid money cards (Like Western Union or GreenDot Money Card)
So, you send them funds, only to later find out the check was counterfeit or the PayPal deposit invoice was a fake.
The money you send, out of your own funds, was received by the scammer, it is not recoverable.
You are out the money you sent and possibly face criminal prosecution over passing a counterfeit check.
i just got the same text wanting hair services for 5 girls. Stating a budget of $1200. Using a private driver to bring them to the Hair Salon.
This person stated that he was hearing impaired and text was best for him. Wanted quotes and the address to the salon. I live in Hawaii. It became fishy and this person needs to be caught and arrested for harassment and fraud.
many people who are deaf do not use written english well, no offense to people with hearing disabilities, but many use asl as their main means of communications.
