Got a call from an Alex Brown of the IRS, which apparently is suing me for tax evasion, badge number 100422088. I've seen a number of other people reporting this guy's name (you'd think he'd at least change the name, no?). He had a heavy accent and, well, didn't sound like an "Alex Brown"... nor did his colleague "Matt Peterson". When I mentioned to Alex that I found his name and badge number on this site, he abruptly hung up (thus my interaction with "Matt" when I called back). Go figure...
My husband just got a call from the SAME EXACT PEOPLE! They must find gullible people who actually fall for this crap. If the IRS is after you, they send you letters, they send letter to your employer, etc. Apparently they have sent us letters, the sheriff has been sent, etc. BE CAREFUL!
I got (2) calls from this number today, saying my name was involved in a law suit and I should call them back before it is filed with the court. Robo voice. Annoying and not falling for it.
got 3 calls, finally returned it. "Alex Brown" answered. He said i was being sued by IRS. he didn't ask for money or ss # or anything which i found weird because i was trying to figure out what kind of scam this was. When i finally asked what he wanted me to do he said hire a lawyer. i kept trying to figure out the angle and couldn't understand him so he told me i was deaf. then at the end he asked if i worked or if it was my day off and told me--and i quote--to "come give (him) a [***]." and then hung up. weird. is this a new way to hack peoples phones or something?
