fyi - When you call these jerks back, you have just made it okay for them to hound you forever. All they need is that ONE call from you (even if they say it's to get off their call list). Then they can claim you have a previous business relationship, because they now have a record of YOU calling THEM. Duh.
Call came in Tuesday August 6, 2013 at 10:28 A.M. Rang only 3 or 4 times. Caller ID said "Name Unavailable"
I used my phone company's *67 privacy feature and dialed back. Call went through and was answered immediately by a recorded voice. Answer was immediate without even a ring. Voice says: "The number you have dialed is invalid. Please check your listing and try your call again." Message repeats about 4 or 5 times. After the 4th or 5th repeat the message changes without any clicking or switching as might occur if call was being switched to the phone company. The new message is "We are sorry but you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. If you feel you have reached this number in error please check your number and call again." Despite the lack of switching wait or clicking the new message certainly mimics an official phone company message. This message is followed by a long silence and then a fast busy signal.
914 436 6232 on Aug 6 2013 11:02 AM ID'd as "Name unavailable". I did not answer and no message was left. If you are fed up with 'do not call", try my method, "do not answer" If they refuse to leave a message then their call cannot be that important. More and more people are being made aware of phone-scams, and these telemarketers/scammers are starting to get the short end of the wedge. 800Notes website is great for defeating them. Keep posting and share these problems on Facebook etc.
The automated message references a great product for seniors who fall. They said you could press 5 to be taken off the list, but that doesn't do anything, the message keeps going. I pressed 1 to speak to a live person and told them this is the third time I have asked for my number to be removed (I have had the number registered on the Do not call list since March). I have now filed a complaint with the Do not call registry.
I just received this call with a recording of a man's voice talking about 65 and older. I hung up at once as I always do on this kind of thing. I was expecting a call from someone else which is why I even answered the phone. Very annoying these robo calls.
